Our client, one of the world’s largest global banks is recruiting a Commodity and Structured Trade Finance Associate to work in their London office, within their Transaction Management Unit
The Transaction Management Unit forms part of the front office of Commodity & Structured Trade Finance, managing the many aspects of the commodity trade finance business.
Main Responsibilities of the Commodity and Structured Trade Finance Associate:
- Within the Transaction Management Unit, assist, support and gain experience in the monitoring of exposures and collateral value(s) to ensure ratios remain within approved limits and sub-limits where applicable. Assist, support and gain experience in the maintenance, of all necessary controls and administrative duties required for facility and day to day operation;
- Provide administration and support for all products related to Commodity Finance and Export Ancillary Business. (Includes Export L/C confirmation limits, discounting and monitoring of due dates).
- Process all respective client requests submitted under approved facilities in accordance with all approvals and conditions.
- Provide technical and specialist support to front, middle and back office areas to assist the development, execution and management of specialist product facilities related to Commodity Trade Finance and provide similar assistance to for non-commodity related business.
- Under supervision, administer, monitor and control on a daily basis the Commodity & Structure Trade Finance client utilisations and exposure under the facility portfolio. This will ensure correct determination of facility availability at time of new requests or enquiries and allow decisions to be made that may cause transactions to be cancelled or repaid.
- Become familiar with individual processes and business flows for each different client; taking an ownership view. This is an essential function necessary for ‘client experience and knowledge level up’ to new or additional members joining the Transaction Management Unit.
- Responsible for sales receivable reconciliation against related purchases
- Analyse the Bank’s security documentation against transactional exposures, supporting junior colleagues where required.
- Ensure credit approval conditions are adhered to by section and client.
- Responsible for accurate timely Management reporting as and when required
- Liaise with clients to provide confirmation and discounting rates for potential Export Letters of Credit.
- Administer the credit application process together with additional internal controls required to advise/confirm/amend Letters of Credit.
- Monitor documentary presentations via database registrations. Provide proactive support to operations and timely execution requests for discounting LC’s.
- Conduct post operation checks to ensure accurate processing.
- Monitor balances between Bank’s accounting system and exposure management tools for all allocated or monitored limits in order to retain an accurate record of exposure.
Skills required of the Commodity and Structured Trade Finance Associate
- Minimum four years previous operational experience of working with Trade Finance products and dealing directly with clients.
- Sound operational knowledge of Trade Finance suite of products (ISP98, UCP600, URDG, Incoterms).
- CDCS [Certified Documentary Credit Specialist] Certification (preferred): Expired or valid is acceptable.
- CITF [Certificate of International Trade and Finance] Certification (optional)
- Excellent communication skills
