Main Responsibilities of the Trade Finance VP
- Ensure that that all operational aspects of trade finance products are performed in an accurate, efficient and timely manner by the respective team within Trade Finance Operations.
- Engage in an initiative contributing toward continuous improvement and encourage participation of team members toward the concept of continuous improvement.
- Motivate, train and develop and coach staff within agreed policies and practices to maintain an effective workplace capable of meeting its objectives.
- Assist to monitor business volumes, collate and analyse management information.
- Assist to maintain appropriate business contingency plans to restore operations in an efficient and controlled manner.
- Assist to develop and implement appropriate workflows and procedures across EMEA to provide guidance to staff.
- Close liaison with CPD to ensure that all aspects of financial crime in trade products are managed, mitigated construct and any red flags escalated as appropriate.
- Close liaison with marketing teams as well as internal and external customers providing technical assistance relating to trade products – this may include customer visits.
Skills required of the Trade Finance VP
- Substantial Trade Finance Operations experience
- Experience in managing and mentoring staff
- Experience of managing operational risk
- Understanding of the commercial terms pertaining to international trade flows
- Understanding of aspects of maritime law and shipping terms
- Understanding of accounting principles for trade finance products.
- Understanding of financial crime risk pertaining to trade finance and how to implement mitigation plans.
